Nah, Sam's version of Lestat is s**** compared to Tom Cruise's Lestat, which is accurate to Lestat in the book, and before you come for me, Anne Rice HERSELF said so. And they don't have chemistry on the show, but they do in real life. Now Armand and Louis have chemistry. They NAILED it, especially in season two, episode 5. But I am guessing you're ONLY a Lestat fan from the show. I love Lestat, but not the show version. I love Lestat in the books and the 90's movie.

Rice has made a series of snarky comments about everything from the Tom’s height (“too short”) to his voice (“too high”), complaining a bit hubristically in the Los Angeles Times that Cruise is no more her Lestat “than Edward G. Robinson is Rhett Butler.”She did everything she could to stop him she even told them they should change Lestat caracter to a women but she could not stop it Tom had to many powerfull people behind him

Sam Reid potrayal of lestat is so suave and sexy and i keep craving for more of his scenes..he makes lestat so sensual and so articulate i love sam reid..cant wait for season 3 we will definitely see more of lestat and louis again

Mmmm that's not quite right. For himself yes, that man hates himself. But others, he can definitely love, unconditionally, to a fault. Like literally to the detriment of himself and others. He can even love his enemies. Just wait till we actually get Lestat, because we haven't actually met the man yet. Wait till they actually adapt his book, before judging his character. No one ever has to love or even like Lestat, as a character. But all we have is essentially word of mouth, about him. We have yet to actually meet the character. Look at it this way, if someone told me that... you like to kill animals, for fun. Am I suppose to then believe you're a psychopath, and that that's just the truth? No, because that's just something that some one else told me, about you.

@@RowensARTstudio The very nature of love requires self-love first and always. Lestat's pineal gland is either missing or calcified. That is the core of his struggle. This story may never reflect that but it is none-the-less core true.

@@brenellhornsby6566 See, I don't agree. I'm not saying you're wrong. Your perception/understanding of love is just as valid as any other, I just don't agree. Personally I am very capable of love, unconditional love. Loving wholly and completely, and selflessly, even to the detriment of myself. But I don't and can't love myself. Just like both Louis and Lestat. They don't love themselves, because for various reasons (including abuse and trauma) neither of them think they're worthy of being loved. But both of them are more than capable of loving another, with everything they have. Again, at the detriment to themselves and others. It's often their love for eachother and others that is not the cause per-say, but the catalyst for utter calamity. It's their love for the other, that made Louis. Their love for eachother and desire to keep it, that made Claudia (and eventually damned her), their love for eachother that saved Lestat... Armands desire to get his hands on that love, that finally killed Claudia... Louis' love for Claudia that had him forsake Lestat and leave him, his love for her that stayed his hand in Paris in regards of the coven, his love for her that made Madeleine. And again, his love for her that eventually killed her (via Armand). And it goes on and on. My point is not to say you're wrong, I just personally don't think a person who cannot love themselves is wholly incapable of loving others. I personally have never agreed with that, or fully understood it. There's so many things in this entire story, that simply would not have happened, if they did not love eachother... if Louis did not love Claudia, etc. It's part of the tragedy of the story. Not that they can't love, but that they can.

@@RowensARTstudio Louis was made by Lestat because of Lestat's sheer terror of loneliness, as was pointed out clearly. Love without self-love is nothing more than emotional baggage. One cannot love from ones emptiness. One can pursue another for many reason, without self-love, but they cannot offer love. Love, from emptiness, is often toxic as is Lestat's. Louis has experienced love from his brother, Grace, and later, from Claudia. The formative love that Louis experienced is from his family. They let go of him because they felt he had given in to something evil... which he had. That does, however, make their love of Louis conditional, but it is enough, nonetheless. Because of Louis nature, it was enough though it broke his heart when his brother died and when Grace let him go. That was all that it took for Louis to have enough love within to become an obsession for Lestat, who is desperate to not be alone. Loneliness is what terrifies him and that is why he pursues Louis. It's got little to do with his notion of love. Louis has been traumatized by the system around him which proliferates to this very day. Louis gives in because he feels seen by Lestat which, at that time, he does not realize is NOT enough. Lestat tells Louis that he can take him away from the system that is attempting to destroy Louis and his people but Lestat only offers another layer of oppression from other directions; the directions of homophobia and peoples fear of the unknown/occult. Lestat was operating under his own delusion because doesn't want to be lonely and equates that with love. Louis seeks freedom from the pathology of the system that he is forced to live under, despite the bit of privilege his family has managed to eek out by betraying the unfortunate circumstance of some of their own people. I would love to see a miracle of Lestat becoming a "good vampire" but he just shattered that for me. Love is all around all of us. We are literally made of the stuff. It is the lack of recognition of that truth, and many other absolute truths, that has caused every single atrocity that ever was. That is why lies and spells have been utilized the corruption possible.

My ADHD got me so bad, my dyslexia started kicking in, so if I accidently misunderstood something, because I read it wrong I apologize in advance. But here goes... The full scope of why Lestat made Louis has not actually been said or revealed yet, we haven't gotten Lestats story, from Lestats own mouth. Paul wasn't capable of loving himself, and seeing as how he ended, that is not "love" for Louis or his family. Grace failed Louis in that "love", and Claudia hated him as much as she loved him. The "love" from his family was not "formative" and what his family did to him, was not love. They didn't let go of him, they rejected him because he was gay. Because they blamed him for Paul's death, because he stopped financially supporting them (eventually) and then finally... because he became other. Your take on them, and what they did to Louis is again an over-simplified and shallow understanding. Missing alot of depth, nuance, etc... And it wasn't "enough" that was the problem. And it's eventually why he was "buried alive" by them (Grace). Loneliness is not why he pursues Louis. It's one single factor, among many. You choose to simplify it, that's all you. I agree with most of the following, up until; about Lestat not wanting to be lonely and equates his delusion with love. That's a wild over simplification, and I don't agree. There's no such thing as a "good Vampire", that part of the whole point. So why you'd want to see that, and are I guess disappointed at that delusion being shattered by reality (within the fictional world that is the VC) honestly makes no sense to me whatsoever. None of these characters are "good", they're monsters, they're not meant to be "good". So you lost me there, cause I can't make sense of watching a TV series about monsters that eat people, and thinking or hoping to see a "good" one... That last line, I fully agree with. But saying "love is all around us, we are literally made of the stuff" directly contradicts the notion that one cannot or is incapable of loving another, without loving themselves. If we are made of love, we have it within us regardless, than it makes no sense to say/believe that one is incapable of giving said love, or feeling that love for another. Unless we are capable of feeling it for ourselves. My point is I agree with that whole last line, it's a beautiful sentence and it's one of many reasons why I believe what I do, when it comes to love. And why I, as a real person, not a fictional character... am fully capable of loving another, without loving myself. Which is the baseline of why I simply don't agree with you. On multiple fronts. I find it so off-putting it feels almost cruel, that you're trying so hard to build the case that two men, who have problems with "love" as a whole, due to childhood and systematic abuse, as well as compound trauma... Are wholly incapable of loving others, because it was hammered into them, that they themselves aren't worthy of love. That the "love" they are shown is dependent and conditional on what they give or are to their abusers. That their only worth comes from how they can be used. As someone who was shaped the same way, to have someone try to convince me that a person like that is incapable of loving another simply because of how damaged they are, does feel like intentional cruelty without objective cause. Especially when pertaining to a story, that at the very heart of it is about two monsters who fell fatally in love with eachother. That love being both destruction and salvation, for them both. It completely changes them, as humans, as men, as Vampires, etc. And in doing so, affects everything that comes later. So you're trying to make the case that they don't or can't "love" others. That at least Lestat doesn't or can't actually love Louis... and you're failing. You're just simply failing. You of course can believe whatever you want, all of us are free to see these fictional characters however we want. But I simply do not and will not agree. You're free to keep trying, it's a zero sum game at this point though. I responded to your original comment, because of what you said in your comment, something I fundamentally don't agree with. I feel like you've gone above and beyond making your case, and the result is I actually disagree even more than I originally did 🤷🏽‍♀
